This publication, dedicated to the method of oral history, raises questions on how to create a good source of the Soviet era oral history, prepare it for archiving, and what is important to know before analyzing this kind of source. This book reveals the essence of the oral history method, its premises and validity, discussions regarding what a good oral history interview is, challenges of researching Soviet era by employing the oral history method and strategies to tackle those challenges. The publication also presents the questions on archiving historical sources. Finally, one part of the book is dedicated to the issues of ethics: the main principles of ethical and lawful research are discussed as well as their consistent application in all stages of research – from the first contact to interviewing and archiving.
