Project idea

Public space in Lithuania is characterised by a value-based polarisation, that is also evident among media outlets. There is a noticeable rise of news websites that differentiate themselves from the so-called mainstream media, criticise traditional journalism and promise a "higher" quality of content. The research hypothesis is that these alternative news websites are emerging in the far-right discourse and are becoming a space for the expressions of political and public figures sympathetic to this ideology. However, the narratives disseminated by such news websites have not yet been analysed. The main objective of this research is an initial analysis of far-right narratives on news websites.
