Project idea

Lithuanian Longitudinal Social Survey (LIST) is a continuous social survey designed to collect representative and high-quality data on Lithuanian society and its development. The aim of this survey is to create a reliable and high-quality data foundation that would allow for a deeper understanding of changes in public opinion and behavior over the long term, and help shape and evaluate evidence-based public policy.

LIST is implemented as a recurring public opinion survey in which the same respondents consistently participate. This is the first large-scale recurring study of public attitudes, values, evaluations and behavior in Lithuania. LIST will be conducted annually in four quarterly waves. The study focuses on strategic indicators important for the country’s development that are not measured in other recurring national surveys conducted in Lithuania.

The LIST questionnaire consists of 12 thematic blocks that reflect the most important areas of Lithuanian societal development and anticipated challenges, such as threats to national security, growing inequality, the adoption of new technologies, and others. It is planned that each quarterly wave will include a variable module, with questions tailored to the needs of government institutions and expert recommendations from the scientific community.

Participating institutions

LIST was initiated by the Government of the Republic of Lithuania. It is being implemented by a consortium of academic and public sector institutions—Vilnius University (VU), Kaunas University of Technology (KTU), Vytautas Magnus University (VDU), the State Data Agency (VDA), and the Government Strategic Analysis Center (STRATA).
