Vainius received his PhD in Politics from the University of Sussex in 2020; his thesis focuses on citizenship policies in Central and Eastern Europe. During his time as a PhD researcher, Vainius taught two undergraduate modules: The Far Right and the Politics of Immigration, and Research Skills and Methods. Vainius also has seven years of experience in public policy evaluations (mostly quantitative).
