Unveiling Controversies and Contestation in EU Legislative Decision-Making: A Text Analysis Approach

Arash Pourebrahimi holds a PhD in Political Science from Leiden University, where his research focuses on legislative decision-making in the European Union (EU).
He is a lecturer in the MSc International Relations and Diplomacy (MIRD) programme, where he teaches courses such as Artificial Intelligence & International Relations, Quantitative Research Methods, International Political Economy, and Thesis Lab. In addition, he supervises master’s theses.
He has taught undergraduate courses including Statistics, Econometrics, Macroeconomics, and Microeconomics at the City University of New York, across Queens College, Brooklyn College, and the College of Staten Island. He has also supervised bachelor’s theses at Erasmus University Rotterdam within the Management of International Social Challenges programme.
Arash has been a visiting fellow at Harvard University’s Department of Government and has contributed to research projects at several leading institutions, including the Institute for Quantitative Social Science at Harvard University, Princeton University, Syracuse University, and the Stone Center on Socio-Economic Inequality. He is currently pursuing a second PhD in Economics at the City University of New York.
Within Leiden University, Arash serves as a member of the MIRD education committee and is one of the organisers of the Diplomacy and Global Affairs (DGA) seminar and the Pre-Analysis Plan Workshop.
