Project idea

This research explores split-ticket voting in the 2023 Lithuanian municipal elections. Split-ticket voting is a form of voting behaviour that involves voting for party A or its candidate in one election or electoral element, and for party B or its candidate in another. The aim of the research is to analyse how split-ticket voting manifested in the 2023 Lithuanian municipal elections and what factors contributed to it. The study will use a quantitative analysis method to examine the number of votes received by the parties, political committees and their mayoral candidates in the 2023 municipal elections. It will also look for factors that might explain the extent of the split-ticket voting phenomenon in this election. The project aims to increase the researcher's competence in the field of electoral research, analysing voting behaviour and its characteristics in municipal elections, and to lay the foundation for further research in this academic field.
