The Cold War fight against Soviet propaganda—lessons for today

On April 9th, we invite you to participate in an online lecture titled “The Cold War fight against Soviet propaganda—lessons for today.” Todd Leventhal, an expert and former U.S. government official countering disinformation, will give the lecture.
The lecture will focus on the most important disinformation/misinformation campaigns the U.S. government dealt with during Mr Leventhal’s time at the U.S. State Department.
Todd Leventhal has 25 years of experience in countering Russian, Soviet, Iraqi, and other disinformation, conspiracy theories, and false stories, mainly for the U.S. Information Agency and the U.S. Department of State, starting in 1987. He was the sole or main U.S. government official countering disinformation from 1989 to 1996, 2002 to 2010, and 2015. He received an “Exceptional Performance Award” from the Director for Central Intelligence for his contributions to the 2003 White House report Apparatus of Lies: Saddam’s Disinformation and Propaganda 1990-2003.
