Open lecture “The rising tensions in Eastern Europe: an unexpected or an inevitable scenario?”

The current political tensions in the Eastern European region are raising questions about the future of democracy and autocracy in the region. The increasing militarization of Russia on its Western border, the migration crisis brought up by Lukashenko’s regime in Belarus and how these events are affecting the rest of Europe will be covered in this lecture by assoc. prof. dr. Laurynas Jonavičius at Vilnius University.
After the lecture, a short introduction to the studies of the Eastern European and Russian region will be held by dr. Vilius Mačkinis (Vilnius University).
