Distinguished Professor of Economics, History, English, and Communication University of Illinois at Chicago Deirdre McCloskey will hold a lecture “Why economics and institutionalism can’t explain the modern world. The moral foundations of the Western social order” on May 7, 3 p.m. at the IIRPS (Conference room 402, 4th floor).

Deirdre McCloskey is an economist, historian, and rhetorician who has written sixteen books and around 400 scholarly pieces on topics ranging from technical economics and statistics to transgender advocacy and ethics. She taught for twelve years in Economics at the University of Chicago, and describes herself now as a “postmodern free-market quantitative Episcopalian feminist Aristotelian.”
