Director of the Institute, professor

What is the most important thing that you have gained from VU IIRPS? What do you value the most?

When I look back at my first year at VU IIRPS, I always remember the eagerness with which all the professors, administration created things that have never existed before. I am grateful that now there is a similar spirit at the Institute: people enjoying their work and seeing value in it. I am always aiming at more space for creativity and realization of ideas.

What is university for you?

University is a place for new discoveries and creativity as well as questioning doubts and heated discussions. Most importantly, a place to understand your own limits. The latter is, I think, one of the most important traits of a intelligent person. I reckon that the most important is that the professors, students, administration will be able to nurture what I think is the most important values at the university – academic freedom, respect for other and responsibility to change what needs to be changed.
