Prof. Iver B. Neumann: Nordic Identity and its relevance for the Baltic region

Institute of International Relations and Political Science of Vilnius University together with Nordic Council of Ministers Office in Lithuania and Royal Norwegian embassy in Lithuania invites to open lectures of Professor Iver Brynild Neumann at the IIRPS VU.

On Tuesday, February 21st at 6 p.m prof. Neumann will deliver his lecture on Nordic Identity and its relevance for the Baltic region. His second lecture “Eurasian steppe and international relations: 8-18 cc” will be held on February 22nd at 11.30 a.m. Both lectures are open to public and will be delivered in English at the conference hall of the IIRPS VU (Vokieciu st. 10 room 402).

Norwegian political scientist and anthropologist Iver B. Neumann is one of the most famous and original researchers in the field of international relations. He obtained PhD in political science from Oxford University in 1992 and since 2009 holds as well the PhD in anthropology from the University of Oslo.

Iver B. Neumann has served as a political adviser to the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Norwegian Ministry of Defence. He has been lecturing and researching at the universities in Norway, Australia, Austria and UK and is a member of the editorial boards of some of the most prestigious academic journals including International Relations and International Theory. Since 2011 Prof. Neumann has been an acting director of the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs. Since September 2012 he is appointed to the Montague Burton Professorship at London School of Economics to succeed one of the most influential professors in the field Barry Buzan.

Lectures of prof. Neumann will be an exceptional academic event in Lithuania. IIRPS VU is glad to offer students, academia and all those interested in International relations and anthropology an opportunity to listen to and discuss with one of the most prominent academics whose texts are being analyzed within the curriculum of IIRPS VU.
