VU IIRPS and the Eastern Europe Studies Centre invite you to a discussion “New content of Lithuanian-Polish partnership: towards a constructive dialogue?” The discussion will be held in the VU IIRPS Conference room on the 18th of June, 5:30 PM. The event will be conducted in Polish and Lithuanian languages.

Discussants will talk about recent problems of Lithuanian-Polish relations and the actions of politicians that lead to these problems.

Lack of dialogue between Poland and Lithuania is of concern to other nations in the region and raises questions from our transatlantic partners. Discussion is needed so that the two countries can move forward with their strategic partnership and the discussants will talk about the input of intellectuals and experts and how it can be used to ensure a more stable dialogue and new vision of regional cooperation.

Adam Michnik, born 17 October 1946, is a Polish historian, essayist, public intellectual, and editor-in-chief of the Polish newspaper, Gazeta Wyborcza. He is a former dissident who spent 6 years in prison for his anti-communist views as well as one of the most important figures within the Polish “Solidarity” movement.

Alvydas Jokubaitis is a philosopher, political theorist, professor at the Vilnius University Institute of International Relations and Political Science. He authored many different books discussing topics such as morality of politics, philosophy of morality, etc.
